STOP the spread of Covid-19
Inventor MLJP Peters

An innovation to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus through coughing/sneezing.

Coughing/sneezing by an infected person is the main source of infection.

It is hard to believe that no one in the world has yet come up with a solution to capture coughed-out particles all at once.

This invention/idea has been designed in such a way that the hands make no contact with the novel coronavirus while coughing. It catches every coughed-out virus particle. After coughing, the innovation can be sealed in a matter of seconds without coming into contact with the coughed-out particles. The hands stay clean.

Thanks to the simple and safe storage system, the innovation remains sterile whenever it comes into contact with the hands. This allows the innovation to be safely discarded or kept safe for research without any risk of other people becoming infected. The big advantage of this innovation is that it helps an infected person that has to cough keep their hands as clean as possible so they will not be an even bigger source of infection for other people.

This invention is intended to make busy areas safer. If anyone coughing or sneezing uses this innovation, it will allow for a quicker and safer restart of the economy.

Quick and easy to use.
Can be disposed quickly and hygienically, without anyone coming into contact with the virus.
Can be produced quickly and inexpensively.

Most people’s greatest fear right now is being in a room where someone infected with the Covid-19 virus has coughed, because there is a chance they will become infected themselves. Worryingly, many people infected with the Covid-19 virus are unaware of this. Because people in a room will move around, the air will keep moving as well. Many buildings have controlled air flow that makes air circulate throughout the building. This increases the chance of inhaling virus particles and becoming infected yourself. Scientists agree that even outside the body, the virus is able to survive for a time. This timespan ranges from a few hours to a few days and depends on several factors: surface type, temperature and humidity. The fact that the virus can survive outside the body greatly increases the risk of becoming infected in areas regularly occupied by people.

People do not have to be sick to cough/sneeze. However, nowadays people are often alarmed by someone coughing or sneezing, although it may be completely harmless.
It may give people more confidence if they see someone coughing or sneezing using an aid that ensures all coughed-out particles are caught.

By coughing in your sleeve or in a tissue, not all particles are caught and virus particles may still end up in the air. After coughing in it, your sleeve will become a major source of contamination. Same goes for the hands if using a tissue or when touching contaminated clothes. Coughing in your sleeve is not sterile whatsoever. No research has been done yet on how long the virus particles that end up on a sleeve survive. Due to sweating and normal body temperature, the lifespan of the Covid-19 virus on your sleeve could be relatively long. The only advantage of coughing in your sleeve is that fewer virus particles enter the air.

Production costs are estimated to be low, allowing for mass production. The product is easy to produce and composed of different materials. A lab and specialists are required to make the product ready for production.
